Left in the departures lounge dabbing his eyes with a hanky as the rest of Liverpool’s squad flew off to their pre-season boot camp in Germany, Fabinho looks to be on his way to Saudi Arabia. The 29-year-old Brazil midfielder is the subject of a £40m bid from Al-Ittihad, where he will line up alongside Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Jota, among others.

In need of a replacement, Liverpool are believed to be sniffing around Manchester City fringe player Kalvin Phillips, who is also attracting “come hither” looks from West Ham and Newcastle. Should he fail to land the England international, Jürgen Klopp could focus his attention on Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch or Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat instead.

Having been stripped of the Manchester United captaincy in recent days, the jig looks very much up for Harry Maguire at Old Trafford and with his arm now unencumbered by a thin strip of nylon, the famously slab-headed central defender could be off to West Ham, who have £105m worth of Declan Rice money burning a hole in their summer war-chest.

Back at Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag is ready to welcome Inter goalkeeper André Onana, who is en route to England to complete a medical and finalise his move for the thick end of £50m. Once the Cameroon international puts pen to paper, he’ll fly out to the USA to join his new teammates on the money-spinning summer tour his Dutch manager almost certainly won’t mention when he’s complaining about United’s oppressively busy schedule at Christmas.

In Australia on their pre-season jolly, West Ham are hopeful of signing Mexican midfielder Edson Álvarez from Ajax in what could be a forlorn bid to fill the Rice-shaped hole in their squad. AZ left-back Milos Kerkez could be on his way to Bournemouth, who are on the verge of snapping the 19-year-old Hungary international from under the nose of Lazio, while midfielder Giovani Lo Celso is close to severing his ties with Tottenham, with a move to Napoli on the cards.

The Italian champions’ exciting young winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is reported to be the subject of an £82m club record bid from Newcastle, who are ready to ship Allan Saint-Maximin out of St James’ Park to free up a dressing room peg for the Georgian or his £35m-rated Leicester counterpart Harvey Barnes.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the latest Chelsea player trudging disconsolately towards the Stamford Bridge door marked “Do One!” and is ready to take a significant pay cut to sign for French side Marseille. Meanwhile in Scotland, Brendan Rodgers is ready for a reunion with his former Leicester captain Jonny Evans, who has been training with Manchester United in order to maintain his fitness since becoming a free agent at the end of last season.

Club convinced West Ham will make formal offer for signing – PL side make ‘concrete progress’ to outline deal with player

On July 11th, Mundo Deportivo reported West Ham United are in advanced negotiations with Real Betis over a deal for Luiz Felipe.

Three days later, Estadio Deportivo stated the defender’s agent has informed the La Liga side about the Hammers’ ‘strong interest’ in him.

Monday’s ABC Sevilla states negotiations between West Ham and Real Betis for 26-year-old, for around €20m, are ‘still alive’.

It’s said there were meetings in London last week with Felipe’s agent and intermediaries, to ‘advance the transfer’ to West Ham.

The report states all parties have ‘made clear progress’ for the future agreement to take Felipe to West Ham, who are now waiting to sort out ‘some internal issues’.

David Moyes’ side are still keen and this was shown by the ‘concrete progress’ made to outline the details of the contract with the player.

Real Betis are waiting for the Premier League side to make a formal offer, but for now they have ‘different priorities’. It’s stated West Ham’s Mark Noble is waiting for Moyes to return from the pre-season tour of Australia to ‘take the next steps’.

West Ham and Real Betis intermediaries will continue talks as the report states all parties are ‘convinced’ there will be progress made on this deal, in the form of a ‘formal written proposal’ from the Hammers.

If this were to happen, it would be followed by further negotiations between the two clubs to sort out the last details of the operation.

Felipe joined the Spanish club for free last summer and his sale would help them reshape their squad for the new season.

Andre on radar

West Ham are claimed to be in the hunt with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur for a red hot Brazilian prospect.

Andre Trindade, 22, has played an increasingly influential role in Fluminense’s midfield since making his first team debut, aged 19. He has gone on to make over 100 appearances for the club and the defensive midfielder was finally rewarded for his performances in June, when he made his international bow for Brazil.

It has been reported by 90min that the Irons are one of many clubs that hold a ‘keen interest’ in the £25m Brazilian midfielder. West Ham are said to be competing with the likes of Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal for his signature, while Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are also considered to be potential suitors.

Whether or not we get him, it does show that we are finally showing some ambition in the transfer market – which can only be a good thing

“He’s going” – Belief West Ham will pay €40m for midfielder, player open to London move

By Lucas Sposito

West Ham United fans should now have a good reason to get excited about what’s being said about Edson Alvarez in the Dutch media.

The situation of the Ajax star was today discussed at De Telegraaf’s Kick-off podcast, and there, journalist Mike Verweij had interesting things to say about the player’s future.

The claims, via Ajax Showtime, show that West Ham stand in a favourable position to land the 25-year-old, as the Hammers seem to have a green light from club and player.

“He’s going. Dortmund had an outline agreement with Álvarez about five seasons, but pulled the plug himself because there was still disagreement within the club. West Ham first wants an agreement with Ajax and then meet with Álvarez. It should be noted that Álvarez has been given an indication of what he can earn in London and that should not pose a problem,” said Verweij.

“Mislintat is still hoping for €50m or €60m they could possibly get from Chelsea, but of course they won’t get that. I think in the end they should be very happy with €40m, and I think West Ham United will pay for that.”

The journalist also claimed that Ajax are expected to make €40m with Alvarez’s sale, despite their initial higher requests.

It was by the end of June that the Dutch media reported that Borussia Dortmund were pulling out of the race for Alvarez, and that apparently left the path open for West Ham to go and get him.

Following this news, it was soon claimed that Ajax and the player were waiting for other clubs to ‘take action’ for the signing. And with the Hammers standing alone in the race, that was basically a message for them to make the move.
